Debussy's "Valse Romantique" is a charming piano piece that showcases his early style and romantic sensibilities. Composed in 1890, it reflects the influence of composers such as Chopin and Schumann, while also hinting at the impressionistic language he would later develop. The piece is characterized by its lyrical melodies, delicate textures, and graceful waltz rhythm, evoking a sense of nostalgia and elegance.
"Valse Romantique" is a miniature gem, lasting only about two minutes, yet it captures a wealth of emotion and imagery. Its flowing lines and subtle harmonies create a dreamy, intimate atmosphere, inviting listeners into a world of fleeting beauty and tender sentiment. Despite its brevity, the piece is a testament to Debussy's skill in crafting evocative, expressive music that resonates with audiences.
The marimba duo version is performed and recorded by Duo LinLynn, co-founded by Dr. Lynn Vartan and Dr. Weichen Lin.

About the composer +
-
Claude-Achille Debussy (22 August 1862 – 25 March 1918) was a French composer. Along with Maurice Ravel, he was one of the most prominent figures associated with Impressionist music, though he himself disliked the term when applied to his compositions. He was made Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in his native France in 1903. Debussy was among the most influential composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and his use of non-traditional scales and chromaticism influenced many composers who followed.
Debussy's music is noted for its sensory content and frequent usage of nontraditional tonalities. The prominent French literary style of his period was known as Symbolism, and this movement directly inspired Debussy both as a composer and as an active cultural participant.Dr. Weichen Lin is an internationally acclaimed marimbist and percussionist, celebrated for his refined artistry and versatile performances across Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Oceania. He currently serves as Lecturer in Marimba at Boston University, and is a Premier Artist of Marimba One and Signature Artist of Innovative Percussion with his own artist series mallets.
