This Concerto was commissioned by and dedicated to the Belgian marimba virtuoso Ludwig Albert, which I sincerely thank for his useful advises and suggestions during the composition process. The work was world premièred as set piece of the International Percussion Competition in Jeju-do Korea 2012 and performed by the finalists and the Jeju Philharmonic Orchestra.

About the composer +

Jan Van Landeghem studied at the Conservatories of Brussels and Maastricht (The Netherlands). He obtained the First Prize for Composition with great distinction in the classes of Peter Cabus and André Laporte and the Solo Diplome Organ under the guidance of Kamiel D’Hooghe. He studied also choir and orchestra conducting (Juliaan Wilmots and Lucas Vis), piano accompagniment (Frans Truyts) and harpsichord (Raymond Schroyens).
He followed master courses in composition and analysis (Iannis Xenakis and Xavier Darasse) organ, basso- continuo and improvisation (Piet Kee, Harald Vogel, Anders Bondeman, Herman Stinders) and conducting (Laslo Heltay, Paul Brandvic a.o.)...
